The Court System in Hartford CT

Several things may require that you navigate the Hartford, CT court system. Whether you have been called up for jury duty, or you have been summoned for a court appearance or even when you have to post a bail bond in Hartford CT for a  loved one who has been arrested.

Navigating the Hartford CT court system is quite easy if you know how to get around. For those that are new to the system, below are a few things you need to know about the Hartford CT court system.

Location

The Hartford, CT judicial district is located at 95 Washington Street, Hartford 06016.

Hours

The court operates between the hours of 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., however, the doors are open at 8:30 A.M.

Parking

Individuals coming to the court with their cars have access to metered parking on both sides of the Lafayette and Washington Streets. For ease of use of the parking space, individuals should know that the meters have been configured to only accept coins or credit cards.

As an alternative, there’s also a Public courthouse parking on Grand Street. To access this public courthouse parking, go down Lafayette Street, go past the Courthouse and into the juror parking lot. Make a turn on the first right into Grand Street which is also a one-way street.

Juror Parking is also made available on Lafayette Street. Jurors are allowed to park on the Street that is adjacent to the Geographical Area 14 Courthouse.

Please note that the first parking lot on the right is reserved for employees while the second is reserved for Jurors.

As a juror, you will be required to provide your juror information to the Judicial Marshall situated at the guard station before you are allowed entry into the juror parking area.

Directions

From I-84 heading West:

When driving from the I-84 heading west, take the Sigourney Street exit and turn left at the end of the exit ramp. Take note to bear left after having approached the road split. Take another left at the next traffic light and proceed to take a right turn onto Capitol Avenue. Follow the Capitol Avenue, past the building and watch out for the Lafayette Statue. Just before the statue, take a right and bear left at the split onto Washington Street. The courthouse is located just the second building to your left and after the stoplight.

From I-84 heading East:

When driving from I-84 heading East, exit at the Capitol Avenue and take a left turn at the exit onto Capitol Avenue. Take the first right just before the Lafayette statue and bear left at the fork leading onto Washington Street. The courthouse is located at the second building on the left just after the stoplight.

From I-91 North or South:

Driving from I-91 North or South, take the exit on Capitol Avenue and keep to the far left of the driving lane. When at the traffic circle, travel halfway around Elm Street which is located on your right and bear onto Elm Street. Follow the street to its end (where you can then see the Capitol building). When at the lift, turn left onto Trinity Street and remain on the left lane. Take yet another left turn at the first light while keeping the Lafayette Statue on your left. Bear left after passing the statue and this puts you on Washington Street. The courthouse is the first building on the right after the stoplight.
