- About: The primary mission of the New Canaan Police Department and its Officers is the protection of all persons and properties within its jurisdiction. This mission must be accomplished through the upholding of laws constitutionally enacted by local, state, and Federal legislative bodies. Our agency serves the community of New Canaan by performing the law enforcement function in a professional manner.
1. Setting the Bond
New Canaan’s Police Department will set your bond where the arrest was made. If this initial bond is not paid, the judge will set a final bail that must be paid. Our office in New Canaan accepts credit cards and cash payments.
2. Connecticut Bail Bonds Group
After Connecticut Bail Bonds Group takes your call, we set up a meeting with you and a New Canaan representative to speak with you. They will ask specific questions regarding the defendant, so please be prepared to provide their full, legal name, date of birth, reason for arrest and location of the jail. If the defendant is currently in a correctional facility, please let us know their inmate number. This will help your New Canaan bondsmen facilitate their case quickly.
3. Meeting a New Canaan Bail Agent
After your initial call, one of our New Canaan bond agents will meet with you for a consultation. They will provide you with information about the bonding process, court system, and payment. If necessary, collateral will be collected at this time which can include jewelry, a car, or a house.
4. Release from Jail
The New Canaan jail will receive your bail bond, and one of our agents will process your paperwork. This can take as little as 30 to 40 minutes. Afterwards, the defendant will receive the release papers and be allowed to return home.
5. Court Date
It is crucial for the arrested individual to arrive at their scheduled court date. The Connecticut Bail Bonds Group will send over a New Canaan agent to find the arrested individual if they do not show up on time. This means that the individual will go back to jail. If the arrested individual also gives false information relating to their bail agreement, this can automatically break the agreement.
Guilty or not, after the end of the trial, the bond must be paid.
